D3 Publisher released a large batch of new screenshots of its upcoming action game Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain.

The screenshots showcase plenty of new enemies that the EDF will have to face in the game. As a warning, though, if you're arachnophobic, you may want to go right back to the front page. I just don't like spiders, and some of the pictures in the gallery are pretty painful.

Indeed, we take a look at some really nasty spider enemies, including "wolf spiders" and "baby spiders." There are also some giant mechanical ones named "Gargants."

On top of that, looks like the EDF will have to be careful about humans this time as well, in the form of a rival organization named Kindred Rebellion. They still fight the invaders, but they're also hostile to the EDF.

They are formed in part by soldiers who left the EDF and others coming from private military companies, and they strike suddenly from their underground military base. While the organization is not as big as the EDF, they have powerful prototype optical weapons acquired via illegal means, so they have enough strength to fight on equal terms.

We get to see their Night Crawler mecha, and two of their officers, Faiza and Adel.

The game is coming in Japan for PS4 in 2019, and there is no information on a possible western launch. We're getting its predecessor Earth Defense Force 5 sometime down the line.
