Last year, Intellivision Entertainment unveiled a brand new console for both retro and casual players: the Intellivision Amico. Alongside the consoles release date announcement in October, several games were teased as well. Many Intellivision, Atari 2600, and iMagic titles are being remade for the system. Original games will be created for the Intellivision Amico as well, including a brand new Earthworm Jim.

While it's not being called Earthworm Jim 4 just yet, Intellivision Entertainment has gathered 10 members of the original team that created the classic platforming series to create a brand new entry exclusively for Intellivision Amico. This announcement was aptly made during the game's 25th Anniversary, which is this year.

The idea for a possible Earthworm Jim 4 has been floating around for years, though issues with the IP owners meant those plans never came to be. Intellivision Entertainment seems to have gotten everything in order regarding the Earthworm Jim franchise, likely due to the fact that Tommy Tallarico, who is spearheading the Amico project as CEO of Intellivision Entertainment, was a composer and sound designer for Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2. He put out a statement alongside this announcement and seems quite happy that the team is back together:

"We have been talking about this moment for many years, it’s a dream come true to finally get the entire team back together. We’re looking forward to sharing a small part of our reunion and initial design meeting with fans from around the world. Intellivision Amico is designed to bring friends and families together and we are excited for fans and those just being introduced to the series to get a first look as we kick-off the design of the game."

The "first look" Tommy Tallarico is referring to in that statement is that on May 4 at 12pm PT the development team will be livestreaming their first design meeting. This will not only allow the reunited developers to not only show off their ideas for the game, but will let them get direct feedback from their audience as well.

You can check out a new Earthworm Jim poster, 50 of which will be given away during the May 4 livestream, below. No release date for this new Earthworm Jim title was given, though we do know that the Intellivision Amico isn't releasing until October 10, 2020.
