Morgott, The Omen King, is one of the toughest battles in Elden Ring. When you finally down this boss, you might even be forgiven for thinking your journey to becoming Elden Lord is over. But, in fact, you now have a whole host of further locations to explore and bosses to beat.

In this guide, we're going to take you through the next steps after Morgott by telling you where you can go next and how you can get there.

Immediately After Defeating Morgott

The first thing you need to do is approach the thorn-covered gate at the back of this area to enter the Erdtree. This will bring a swift halt to your plans, so turn back and go to the newly-appeared Elden Throne Site Of Grace. Rest here, and Melina will appear, explaining a new purpose and direction for the two of you to travel: the snowy mountaintops of the giants. She will then give you the Rold Medallion and make a mark on your map where you need to head to use it.

The Rold Route

To reach your new destination, you'll need to travel back to the Avenue Balcony Site Of Grace and head out onto the main avenue. Go North-East until you reach the large double doors that were previously unopenable. You will now be able to open these, revealing a new ash-covered part of the city. Head straight ahead up the path and stairs here, avoiding or defeating the Misbegotten and Perfumers along the way, until you reach a large arched doorway with a lift beyond.

Activate this lift, and you will be raised to a new area in the City Outskirts. Go straight ahead, and you will find Leyndell soldiers and two Knights, one on horseback, along the way. Avoid or defeat these and continue forwards until you reach another lift. In this room, there is another exit that will take you to the Divine Tower Of East Altus, but you can come back to this later. Activate the lift here, and you will descend into a new zone.

The Forbidden Lands

You have now entered the Forbidden Lands. This is a narrow, claustrophobic place with limited visibility, a number of sheer drops that will instantly kill you, and is crawling with extremely dangerous Vulgar Militia enemies. The good news is you can mount up on Torrent and run through the entire zone. There is only one path here, and you will still have Melina's red mark on your map to work toward, so assuming you can dodge or kill the enemies, the route itself is straightforward. When you get to the end of this zone, you will see a huge staircase marking the base of the Lift Of Rold.

There is a statue of Marika here for a good reason, which is that as soon as you ascend the stairs, a Black Blade Kindred, a huge gargoyle, will attack. You do not need to defeat this Boss. You can simply run or ride past it and continue on to the lift. Be aware it moves fast and far and hits very hard, though.

Whether you dodge or kill the Boss, when you get to the top of the stairs, you will find the Grand Lift Of Rold Site Of Grace. You can now proceed to the lift itself and select Hoist The Medallion to activate it.

Mountaintops Of The Giants

Elden Ring Mountaintops Zamor Ruins

The Rold Lift eventually drops you off at your destination, the new zone, Mountaintops Of The Giants. Just down the slope from the Lift is a map fragment for part of the zone and the Zamor Ruins Site Of Grace. From here, we'll let you continue your adventures on your own, but at some point, you'll probably be needing our guide to this zone's boss.
