Chelona’s Rise, like many towers previously encountered throughout Elden Ring, is sealed behind a magic barrier. The statue outside offers a familiar command: seek three great wise beasts. Each of these towers has had its own unique challenges to access, but the three wise beasts of Chelona’s Rise are the most difficult to locate as they are scattered across all of the Moonlight Altar plateau in Liurnia.
Once you know where to look, however, the tower can be easily accessed in order to obtain the powerful sorcery within.
How To Reach Chelona’s Rise
Chelona’s Rise is located on the Moonlight Altar plateau in Liurnia, and is only accessible after progressing Ranni’s Quest through Deep Ainsel Well. From the Moonlight Altar site of grace, ride either east or west, following the rough paths out to the edges of the Moonlight Altar plateau. Follow the paths around the edges of the plateau, turning south, until they reach a tower among a field of beautiful blue flowers. Rest at the Altar South site of grace, which is located just in front of the tower. Make sure to interact with the statue outside of the tower in order for the three wise beasts to appear. You will also want a ranged weapon of some kind in order to destroy the three beasts. A simple bow and arrow will do.
Note: resting or fast traveling will despawn any wise beasts you haven’t dealt with yet, and you’ll need to interact with the statue again.
Beast One
This beast is located at the first marker on the map above, clinging to the cliffs below the rear of the tower. From the site of grace, run around the tower to the right, looking over the cliff edge as you go, and you’ll have no trouble spotting it. Unlike previous wise beasts, the beasts of Chelona’s Rise are massive spirit turtles. Despite their size, however, they can still be pretty tricky to spot without knowing where to look.
Beast Two
From the Altar South site of grace, ride eastward up the path toward the second marker on the map above. If you reach Lunar Estate Ruins, you’ve gone too far. You should spot the wise beast either up on a ledge or below you on a ledge (depending on where you’re spotting it from). You can easily drop down onto the middle ledge and deal with the beast up close, but you can simply shoot it from the upper ledge and be done.
Beast Three
Ride back toward the Altar South site of grace and take the westward path up to the third marker on the map above. This path can be treacherous, being populated with several Crystalian warriors (and a Lesser Red Wolf of Radagon if you wander a bit off the path), but if you ride straight through, the Crystalians won’t be quick enough to stop you. If you’ve hit Ringleader’s Evergaol, you’ve gone a little too far.
Once you’ve reached the northwestern edge of the Moonlight Altar plateau, look up: you’ll find the third wise beast floating above a Spirit Spring. Ride Torrent into the Spirit Spring and leap high into the air. Landing on the wise beast will ‘kill’ it, and you will receive a prompt: the seal on the rise opened.
Enter Chelona’s Rise
Return to the Altar South site of grace and enter the tower now that the magic barrier has been removed. The tower has no enemies within, so you can rest easy. Ascend the tower to the very top, where you will find a chest. Open the chest to receive Ranni’s Dark Moon. This is not only one of the legendary sorceries (if you’re collecting them), but it’s quite a powerful Full Moon sorcery to boot.
