FromSoftware games can be pretty obtuse when it comes to unlocking hidden areas, and Elden Ring is no exception—collecting the Haligtree Secret Medallion pieces to access Consecrated Snowfields is definitely one of the most involved.
If you follow Latenna’s Questline to completion, not only will you obtain the two Haligtree Secret Medallion pieces, but you'll also earn a fantastic Spirit Ash, access to Consecrated Snowfields, and a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone to top it all off. You can begin the quest as soon as you gain access to Liurnia of the Lakes.

Obtain Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) From Latenna
- Travel to the Village of the Albinaurics, found directly south of Raya Lucaria Academy. It’s hidden beneath the massive overhanging mountain. Avoid the Giant Crabs and head up the path into the village.
- From the Village of the Albinaurics site of grace, head east to the back corner of the area, past the annoying enemy who throws fire sparks. You’ll find a single large clay pot. Strike it, but only once. You will hear a cry of alarm, and Old Albus, an albinauric, will appear.
- After speaking with Albus and learning of the attack on his village, he will give you the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) and ask that you take it to Latenna, an Albinauric warrior.
Now that you have the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right), you will be invaded by Ensha upon your next visit to the Roundtable Hold. It isn’t spelled out explicitly, but Gideon Ofnir is responsible for the destruction of the Village of the Albinaurics in his pursuit for the medallion piece you now possess. Ensha, as Gideon’s servant, attacks you to obtain the medallion piece for his master. Speaking with Gideon after the attack will reveal very little, but he will urge you to seek out the Albinauric woman (Latenna).
Where To Find Latenna
- Travel to Lakeside Crystal Cave minor dungeon, located directly south of the Boilprawn Shack site of grace and the Scenic Isle site of grace.
- After defeating the dungeon boss, a Bloodhound Knight, continue past the boss arena and out of the cave. You will find yourself in a clearing with Latenna sitting off to the left alongside her slain wolf companion.
Speak with Latenna and agree to take her to the Haligtree. She will tell you the location of the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left).
Thank you kindly. They say the other half of the medallion is beyond the forbidden lands north of the Erdtree. In Castle Sol, on the Mountaintops of the Giants, accessible by the Grand Lift of Rold.
Latenna The Albinauric: Powerful Spirit Ash
Latenna will then become a Spirit Ash and join you on your journey.
Latenna is a strong addition to your Spirit Ash collection, and though she has some limitations, she can provide great ranged support and become invaluable with good positioning. As an Albinauric, she is unable to walk or move around on her own, so placement is key. Once summoned, she will remain in place and regularly fire arrows at any enemies in the vicinity.
Hidden ability: the Albinauric warrior women are known for their wolf companions. If a wild wolf rides near Latenna's position, she will mount the wolf and become mobile, firing arrows from the back of the wolf as they ride around the battlefield.
Obtain Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) At Castle Sol
- Later in the game, once you reach the Mountaintops of the Giants, travel to Castle Sol in the northern section of the map. You’ll encounter a Walking Mausoleum patrolling the exterior of Castle Sol. Bring it down.
- Fight your way through Castle Sol and defeat Commander Niall, one of the tougher bosses found in the game.
- After defeating Commander Niall, continue through the boss arena to the top of the tower, and you will acquire the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left).
Journey To The Consecrated Snowfield
- With both Haligtree Secret Medallion halves in hand, return to the Grand Lift of Rold located at the northern end of the Forbidden Lands.
- At the lift, you will receive a prompt to select which Medallion you wish to use. Select “Hoist Secret Medallion.” Following this path will take you to the Consecrated Snowfield.
- After riding blind through the snowstorm and reaching the Inner Consecrated Snowfield site of grace, you will find the area's map fragment to the north, just across the frozen river and beside a large tree. Keep an eye out for patrolling wolves in the area.
- Journey to the very northwestern part of Consecrated Snowfield. You will need to ride past one of the more dangerous Walking Mausoleums (better to bring it down before proceeding).
- Continue past the Walking Mausoleum to the Apostate Derelict, an old abandoned church ruin in the snowfields (marked with a red circle on the map above).
Inside, you will discover a Giant Albinauric Woman resting in the ruins. Interact with her, and Latenna will appear and speak with the Giant Albinauric Woman, completing her quest. After speaking with her, Latenna will address you:
Thank you. I've finally fulfilled my purpose. Our young yet towering sister will give us hope. Now that nothing is left unfinished, I will join you in battle to the bitter end. And when the fighting is done, then you may lay me to rest. Beside Lobo, my dear wolf.
Latenna will then grant you a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, one of only eight found in the entire game.
