Elden Ring has hundreds of bosses that players can defeat, and many would find some resemblances to other games in the Souls franchise. However, it seems like there is more than mere resemblance according to a latest report.

Elden Ring Has Unused Boss From Dark Souls 3, Solves A 7-Year Old Mystery

According to a new video posted by Zullie the Witch, Elden Ring could be hiding one of the most mind-boggling mysteries in the Souls franchise. In the previous Souls games, data miners have often discovered a plethora of unused stuff, ranging from bosses to unused animations, and it was always a mystery as to why the content was cut from the game. The answer seems to lie in Elden Ring itself.

The Youtuber has discovered that one of the most frustrating bosses in the game, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, is actually a boss from Dark Souls 3. The name "SnakeSoul" was found in Dark Souls 3's files, but it was not linked to any of the bosses, apart from being connected to Pus of Man. However, it seems like From Software has decided to use this boss in Elden Ring, as the AI name of Ulcerated Tree Spirit is SnakeSoul, which strongly suggests that this could be the same boss which was cut from Dark Souls 3.

The same name could be passed off easily, but things get even more interesting when the Youtuber highlights that one of the very early footages of Dark Soul 3 has a shadow of a boss which strongly resembles the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. This pretty much confirms the fact that this boss was taken from Dark Souls 3, thereby addressing one of the oldest mysteries in the Souls franchise.
