Since its release back in February 2022, Elden Ring has conquered the gaming landscape and sold more than 20 million copies. With the new expansion Shadow of the Erdtree on the way, FromSoftware's magnum opus does not seem like it will slow down anytime soon. Most recently, the title's publisher has shared a series of fun statistics revealing how many times players have died trying to slay the game's bosses.

According to the statistics, more than 329 million players have died while trying to defeat Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Also known as Lady of Rot, Malenia now bears the title of the deadliest boss in FromSoftware's critically acclaimed RPG.

Her score is followed by the first great boss of the game, Margit the Fell Omen, who has extinguished the meager flame of over 281 million players. The list then continues with Limgrave Tree Sentinel, Radagon of the Golden Orger, and Starscourge Radahn. It is also worth noting that there have been nearly six billion boss attempts since the game's debut.

Elden Ring Malenia boss fight number of deaths

The number of players who died during boss battles is colossal. But they only make up 69% of the total number of over nine billion player deaths. The interesting statistics show that 15% of players died due to status effects like Scarlet Rot, Madness, Death Blight, and more. And 14% of them fell to their deaths from the great heights of The Lands Between. And lastly, the 2% of the fellow Tarnished have been slain by other players during Invasions.

Bandai Namco's infographic also reveals the players' favorite spells and incantations. It seems like Rock Sling has been the go-to spell for most players during their dangerous endeavors in The Lands Between. For the latter, Blessing of the Erdtree takes the crown as the most acquired incantation in Elden Ring. That's only natural though, as this solid incantation offers a massive HP restore that is essential during the journey of the Tarnished.

Thanks to the announcement of the title's new DLC, more players are returning to the shattered lands of Elden Ring as well. So there is no doubt that these Malenia's victims will continue to increase astronomically.
