Elden Ring has overtaken Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us: Part II to become the most-awarded game of the year winner, according to a group of researchers on ResetEra.

The tracking thread (spotted by GamesRadar) revealed that Elden Ring has now won a total of 324 game of the year awards. The mantle was previously held by The Last Of Us: Part II with a total of 322 awards following its release in 2020 for the PlayStation 4. Elden Ring most recently won the coveted game of the year award at Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards ceremony, an award that was also won by The Last Of Us: Part II in 2020.

According to ResetEra's analysis, Elden Ring took him a total of 324 game of the year awards, with 281 of the awards being from media outlets. As you can expect, DualShockers was one of the many media outlets that crowned Elden Ring as the game of the year. The remaining 43 game of the year awards for Elden Ring supposedly came from readers' choice awards.

Despite being one of the biggest games of the year, God Of War Ragnarok didn't even come close to competing with Elden Ring for the number of game of the year awards. A total of 60 media outlets crowned Ragnarok as their game of the year, with another 14 votes coming from readers' choice. In total, the hit PlayStation exclusive only managed to bag 74 game of the year awards, which is some ways off from Elden Ring's staggering 324 awards.

Other honorable mentions on the list include Immortality with 6 game of the year awards, Pentiment and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 both picked up 4 awards, and A Plague Tale Requiem picked up 3 awards from media outlets. However, it is worth noting that the creators of this ResetEra thread have deemed certain outlets as ineligible for various reasons, which affects the overall score for each game.

Elden Ring will be celebrating its first birthday next month, but FromSoftware still has plenty in store for fans. Prior to winning game of the year, a free Elden Ring update finally brought the long-rumored PvP Colosseum content to the game.
