Elden Ring doesn't have a cheaters and hackers problem like Dark Souls once did, but you can still end up running into cheating players in PvP, and one player managed to get their fair share of Souls (Runes) after one of these fateful encounters.

It's only been a week since the worldwide release of Elden Ring on all platforms but Nintendo Switch, and the game is an unlimited story factory. Between the Looney Tunes-like death clips, to finding secrets no one else discovered yet, everyone has their own anecdotes to share about the Lands Between. And this time on Reddit, another Tarnished just shared a peculiar experience: getting millions of Runes after defeating an Invading player.

Elden Ring player cheats death against hacking invader

In Elden Ring, just like in past Souls game, you can "invade" or "get invaded" by another player. This means joining each other's world and fighting each other. The victor gains a certain percentage of souls, or runes in Elden Ring, based on the other player's level. There's also a level limit to the invading mechanic, so low level players can't get invaded by high level characters.

Key_Meaning_9036, one of the Tarnished on the r/Eldenring subreddit, shared their experience battling an invader player who clearly cheated or hacked the game: When defeated, that invading player dropped millions of Runes. Meaning that this player was above the maximum stats and levels cap you can reach in-game normally.

Is cheating in Elden Ring fun?

Interestingly, the Reddit thread also shifted into a debate on whether it's fun or not to cheat in a game like Elden Ring. As many other fans pointed out, personally I believe using trainers and cheats, like to quickly try out new builds, is definitely fun and I don't see any problem with that. Going into multiplayer and ruining other players' experience is another story though.
