Sellia, Town Of Sorcery Location

Visit Gowry's Shack At The Entrance

To reach Sellia, simply follow the main road through Caelid that curls around the Swamp of Aeonia, and it will lead you to the gates of Sellia. Just before entering the town, you will encounter a nondescript shack on the right side of the road — Gowry’s Shack. While Sage Gowry is primarily the first step of Millicent’s Questline, speaking with him and defeating Commander O’Neil at his request will earn you the item: Sellia’s Secret. In it, Gowry details how to break the magical seals of Sellia.

Note given by Sage Gowry detailing the secret he promised. The Town of Sellia hides the source. Light three flames atop the candle towers to break the seal.

With that out of the way, continue north to enter Sellia, Town of Sorcery.

Loot The Streets Of Sellia

Elden Ring Sellia Redmane Painting

Before you seek out any candle towers, search the town of Sellia for loot lying around!

To start, move down the central avenue of the town. On your right, you will spot a red painting in the ruins of an old building. Interact with it to acquire the “Redmane” Painting.

The Redmane Painting is one of many Painting Puzzles found throughout The Lands Between.

Elden Ring stairs down to site of grace in Sellia

Continuing down the street, you will find a staircase running down to the west, away from town. Head down these stairs until you reach the Sellia Under-Stair site of grace. From here, run north through the ruins until you spot a crumbled ruin containing a corpse with an item on it.

A Plague Dog lurks on the far side. Loot the corpse to receive the powerful Spirit Ash: Rotten Stray Ashes.

You will also find a Poison Grease in one of the back alleys on the eastern side of the town.

Finally, ride north up the main avenue until you reach the staircase at the north end of town. Up the staircase, you will find a magical seal blocking your way out of town along with a Golden Seed.

  • Head across the root to the next building and take another makeshift root bridge to the adjacent roof.

Follow this along, and you’ll find a glowing white Teardrop Scarab. This scarab will teleport around if you attempt to attack it from close range. Attack it using spells or a ranged weapon. It’ll keep teleporting between its original location, the nearby roof, and another branch nearby each time it is hit. Hit it three times, and it will drop Ash of War: Double Slash.

Night Comet Sorcery & Other Rewards

Elden Ring Map of Sellia seals

After all three candles are lit, the magic seals throughout town are removed. This includes the three seals in town (marked on the map above), plus the boss arena at the northwest end of town and the northern exit from town leading toward the Church of the Plague.

Drop back down to the streets and loot the three chests that were hidden behind the seals in town.

  • The first seal on the west side of town contains Spelldrake Talisman +1.
  • The second seal in the middle of town contains Night Comet sorcery.
  • The third seal on the east side of town contains Imbued Sword Key.

Cerulean Tear Scarab Location

The final item in town is the Cerulean Tear Scarab. This wasn't hidden behind a seal or anything, but it's easiest to navigate to once you've got the lay of the land. From the second candle tower, head north across the rooftops. You’ll see an item on a roof in the distance, close to the stairs on the north side of town. Head there to loot the Cerulean Tear Scarab.

Fires a semi-invisible magic comet

Intelligence: 38

Night Comet is a powerful Night Sorcery that is only found within Sellia, Town of Sorcery.

The item text reads:

One of the night sorceries of Sellia, Town of Sorcery.

Fires a semi-invisible magic comet.

This sorcery can be cast repeatedly and while in motion. Charging enhances potency.

The Sellian sorcerers were assassins, and it is said that they often hunted their fellows.

Coincidentally, the Staff of Loss, also found in Sellia, Town of Sorcery, boosts the potency of invisible sorceries, meaning casting Night Comet with the Staff of Loss increases the power of Night Comet by 30%.

How To Beat Nox Swordstress & Nox Priest

Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest

The seal located at the northwestern end of town is now removed, revealing a golden boss fog beyond. Inside, you will encounter a Nox Swordstress & Nox Priest. These enemies are not overly difficult, but the room is relatively small, so they can easily overwhelm you by pinning you in a corner. Try to take them on one at a time.

The Swordstress uses a whip-like sword, so she can hit at a surprising range, and the Nox Priest mainly casts spells from range. They do not have a deep health pool, so you should have little trouble defeating the duo.

Target the Nox Priest first to stop his spellcasting.

Upon defeat, you will acquire 6,400 Runes and the Nox Flowing Sword (the weapon that the Nox Swordstress used in the battle). You will also find a chest at the back of the room that contains Lusat’s Glintstone Staff, one of the most powerful staffs in the game.

Lusat's Glintstone Staff does increase damage with sorceries, but it also increases the FP cost of all sorceries.

Now that you’ve completed Sellia Town of Sorcery, you can exit the north side of town, head up the stairs, and hurry past the Gold Seed location to find the Sellia Backstreets site of grace beyond. Continue up this winding path to reach the Church of the Plague and continue Millicent’s Questline.
