Steam users have officially voted Elden Ring as the game of the year for 2022, beating the likes of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Stray, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and God Of War.

Earlier this week it was revealed that FromSoftware's hit RPG, Elden Ring, had become the most-awarded game of the year recipient ever. After overtaking The Last Of Us: Part II, which previously held the crown of the most-award game of the year title, Elden Ring now has another award to add to its accolades, as Steam users have given the title yet another game of the year award.

As the year drew to a close, Steam users were able to vote in the prestigious 2022 Steam Awards, which included categories such as game of the year, VR game of the year, the labor of love award, and much more. Previous years have seen Resident Evil Village, Red Dead Redemption 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and more take home the coveted game of the year award.

It wasn't just Elden Ring that won big at this year's Steam Awards though, with other titles such as Hitman 3 picking up VR game of the year, Cyberpunk 2077 winning the labor of love award, and Death Stranding winning the best game on the go award. Although FromSoftware will likely be focused on yet another game of the year award, it was also voted the winner in the 'best game you suck at' category.

Elden Ring has picked up plenty of game of the year awards since its release last February, including from our editorial team here at DualShockers. But arguably the game's biggest achievement came during The Game Awards 2022, where it took on the likes of God Of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and more to win the game of the year award.
