Elden Ring was the big finale at yesterday’s Summer Game Fest, and host Geoff Keighley shared that its position in the lineup was requested by director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

The highly anticipated gameplay trailer for FromSoftware and Bandai Namco’s medieval fantasy was teased by Keighley prior to the event, and has been one of the most talked about games since its announcement in 2019.

Elden Ring’s dramatic trailer at the festival finally answered fans' prayers, but it’s the game’s director who should be thanked for its placement in the show.

Geoff Keighley’s Tweet

Shortly after the event, host Geoff Keighley posted an insightful tweet, who firstly thanked the developer for allowing him to “re-introduce” Elden Ring.

Keighley then followed up with an interesting tidbit from the show’s organizing, stating that Hidetaka Miyazaki had asked for the trailer to be placed at the end of the show.

Miyazaki’s strategy aimed to allow the trailer to be a “reward” for fans who watched the entire show, using the anticipation of the game’s involvement to heighten the reveal of other games.
