As of right now, the only confirmed new IP coming from publisher EA that we know of is Titanfall, the highly popular and anticipated first-person shooter and mech combat hybrid that was first unveiled at this year’s E3 trade show. Despite the allure of Titanfall, it has not stopped harsh criticism of the company, which some think curtail the development of new, original games.
Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Games, explained to MCV that in addition to Mirror’s Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront – two titles which he believe can be considered original, due to how different they are from their predecessors – EA is currently developing, “six to eight completely new IPs in the works. The day we stop making new IP is when we go onto life support. We need to incubate new ideas and push creative boundaries.”
Mirror’s Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront are currently being developed by DICE and will be published by EA for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Star Wars: Battlefront is being targeted specifically for 2015.
