Pokemon GO's Community Day has rolled around once again, and this time out, players are encountering an abundance of the fiery pig, Tepig.

The Fire-type Pokemon is the second starter from Pokemon Black and White to be featured in its own Community Day, after Snivy earlier this year.

As always, during Community Day, there is a special move up for grabs - this time, if players evolve a Pignite into Emboar, it will learn Blast Burn, a move that is notoriously powerful in Pokemon GO. But does that make it good?

Let's take a look at Emboar, its Best Moveset, Max CP and if it takes its place in the Pokemon GO meta.

How to Get Emboar in Pokemon GO.

I imagine on Community Day, you're going to be catching as many Tepig as possible in order to get plenty of Candies and try and find an elusive 100% IV. This will make getting Emboar easier.

To get Emboar, it's a case of evolving Tepig into Pignite with 25 Candies, then Pignite into Emboar with another 100 Candies. Just be sure to evolve your best IV ones.

What's The Best Moveset For Emboar in Pokemon GO?

As you could have probably guessed, based on how good Blast Burn is for Pokemon like Charizard, Typhlosion and Blaziken, it is definitely one of the best moves for Emboar.

Emboar's best Fast Move, despite not being the strongest, takes advantage of STAB. This move is Ember.

Finally, as its second Charge Move, you're going to want to pick Rock Slide for Emboar to provide a bit of extra coverage against other types, including Flying, which Emboar is weak to.

However, if you fancy something a little different, Focus Blast is another solid option that takes advantage of STAB.

Best Moveset:

  • Fast Move - Ember
  • Charge Move - Blast Burn
  • Charge Move - Rock Slide (or Focus Blast)

Max CP And Meta Relevance

When powered up to level 40, Emboar has a respectable Max CP of 2982. If you get enough XL Candies during Community Day to power it up to level 50, Emboar has a Max CP of 3372. Is this enough to make it relevant in PVP though?

The short answer is no.

According to PVPoke, even with Blast Burn, Emboar is only the 491st best pick in the Great League and therefore, isn't even worth considering.

It picks up one or two solid wins against the likes of Alolan Ninetales and Venusaur but that's to be expected. It loses against most of the division's top, top Pokemon.

It fares slightly better in the Ultra League, coming in at 327th, however, still isn't worth your time or investment here.

The Master League is where Emboar performs best but again, it only comes just inside the top 200, ranking at 197th. The only major wins it picks up is against Metagross, Genesect and Articuno.

In summary, catch your Tepig to get some Shiny additions, but other than that, don't sweat it too much.
