If you were to ask me, Emily is Away, is not only one of 2015's best games, but one of the best games of all time. I played it 13 times. Suffice to say, when lone-developer Kyle Seely announced the game's sequel, Emily is Away Too, last October, I screamed with joy like a little schoolgirl.

For those that don't know, Emily is Away is an interactive story, where you create a screenname and choose your path through a branching narrative. It brilliantly pulls on deep nostalgic strings of anyone who grew up or was a part of the AOL Instant Messenger days. It's sequel, is essentially more of the first, but substantially more fleshed out in features, and obviously, featuring a new narrative.

It's specifically described as the the spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed original. In it, you message both Emily and Evelyn as you determine the outcome of your senior year. You can extend the story past the chat window with things like youtube links, facebook profiles and file transfers. And most importantly, you can change your text color to a lime green or deep red, to let everyone know you're the coolest ever.

Emily is Away Too boasts multiple endings triggered by your dialogue decisions. It also features the following:

  • Buddy icons, customizable profiles and away messages.
  • Independent IM conversations with branching paths.
  • Youtube links, Facebook profiles and even file transfers.
  • An interface you thought you'd never use again!
Emily is Away Too is set to release sometime in May for PC, Mac, and Linux. You can check out the new trailer, which you can clearly see ups the nostalgic level by 10 from the first game, below:
