Empire of Sin from Romero Games Finally Launches on December 1
Empire of Sin from Romero Games finally has a release date. This December, you'll build your own empire as you work to become the world's best mob boss.
After a setback early this year, Romero Games’ Empire of Sin is finally launching at the tail end of 2020. The gangster management sim with turn-based combat takes you back to Prohibition-era Chicago. There, you’ll compete against the best mobsters in the city as you create your own criminal enterprise. It continues to be a pretty wild departure for a developer like John Romero who made his bones on fast-paced FPS games. That said, Empire of Sin has all the makings of a great tactics game. Give the latest trailer a watch below.
As you can see in the trailer, Empire of Sin has tons of systems for you to interact with, but still puts a focus on its characters. This trailer only shows off a few, but the final game gives you 14 different mob bosses to choose between. Each come with their own sets of strengths and weaknesses. It reminds me a bit of the Leader system from the Civilization series.
That should give the game plenty of extra replay value. Testing your skills by playing through as different bosses should make this a game you can play over and over again. That said, even if you only want to play once, Empire of Sin appears to have a ton to do. Not only will you need to fight through turn-based battles, but the management side of things seems just as intricate.
If they can deliver, this might be one of the best tactics games to come out in 2020. Which is saying something considering how strong that genre has been this year.
Empire of Sin launches for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on December 1. No word yet on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them also ported there.
