Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is a beautifully 2D animated Metroidvania, coming to PC via Steam and consoles. The game was just revealed with a pretty nice trailer. While the trailer states the game is coming this Winter, Makoto Takada specified on Twitter it's coming before 2020 ends.

Ender Lilies is the story of Lily, the last priestess in a devastated land where an endless rain turn people into undead. Lily awakens in a church and has amnesia. After exploring the surroundings of the church, she summons the spirits of purified undead to protect her in her journey to find the cause of the Deathly Rain. The game will feature a dark fantasy, challenging world, and a customizable combat system suitable for any playstyle.

Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is made by Japanese developers Binary Haze Interactive (the publisher) and its sister companies Live Wire and Adglobe. Binary Haze Interactive was founded in June 2020. Keisuke Okabe is the director and story writer of the game.

Adglobe is a Shibuya-based company working on game, web design, and mobile game development. Live Wire is made of 25 employees as of March 2020, and was founded by Adglobe in February 2018. Most notably, the president is Makoto Takada, who used to be the president of Neverland, which closed down in 2013. Neverland was the developer of the Estpolis (Lufia) JRPG series and the Rune Factory series.

Binary Haze Interactive will also publish two other unannounced games. These two are developed by Adglobe’s teams in Tokyo, Osaka, and Montreal, and will be revealed in 2021.

As you can see, while Binary Haze Interactive is an international company, you can tell its games are gonna be Japanese in esssence with how Ender Lilies has a loli as its protagonist.

The music in Ender Lilies is by Japanese indie group Mili, who most notably did the opening theme song for the Goblin Slayer anime and songs for Deemo.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights will support the following languages: English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Korean, Chinese (Simplified), Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), and Russian. The game's age rating will be announced at a later date. There's a lot of blood so it'll definitely be at least 12+.

Besides Vanillaware, with the upcoming western release of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, it's really rare for Japanese developers to be doing 2D animated side scrolling games like this nowadays. In fact, Makoto Takada is one of the many developers who praised 13 Sentinels. So I'm definitely looking forward to this one.
