The UK-based business publication BusinessFinancing Co conducted a survey of every country in the world to determine the most popular gaming brand in the world. Epic Games took the cake in 141 of the roughly 190 countries surveyed. This is likely thanks to their mega-hit, Fortnite.

In 2020, the massively popular free-to-play Battle Royale managed to break its own records. From reaching 12.3 million concurrent players for its in-game Travis Scott concert to 15.3 million players teaming up to take on Galactus at the end of its last season, Epic Games' biggest game yet shows no signs of slowing down.

Nintendo, Gameloft, Atari and Activision round out the rest of the top five. Nintendo's spot on this list especially comes as no surprise. Between a record-setting run as the best-selling console on the market and Animal Crossing: New Horizons' impressive sales figures, Nintendo's year has been almost as impressive as Epic's. Some of the other gaming brands represented in the survey include BioWare, Konami, Ubisoft and Rare.

While Epic Games hasn't shared many details on their player numbers for the current season of Fortnite, they're likely to blow minds once again. Collaborations with massive pop culture franchises like Star WarsTerminatorGod of War and Halo have brought in even more eyes from outside the gaming landscape.

As Epic's grip on the market grows, so does their company. Early this year, they announced that they would be renovating an entire shopping mall to serve as their new headquarters in 2024. On top of shaking up the games industry with Fortnite, Epic has continued to make waves in the PC gaming space with the Epic Games Store through competitive exclusivity deals, profit-sharing policies and free game offers. Although they aren't likely to dethrone Valve and Steam anytime soon, the money that Fortnite brings in will certainly give them more opportunities to compete.
