During Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016 in Barcelona Epic Games showcased a new a real-time 3D experience powered by Unreal Engine 4 and the Vulkan API named "ProtoStar."

After the announcement the availability of Vulkan on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Epic Games Founder Tim Sweeney promised features previously possible only on a "high-end consoles" on stage.

"This scene has been rendered in real time using the Unreal Engine. It's running live, and the operator, is right here in the audience. Thanks to the new Vulkan API, we can render objects four times faster than in OpenGL, enabling high-end graphics with low power consumption.

Now this is a simulation of celestial mechanics. Meteors are colliding and coalescing enhanced by particle systems, emissive materials, dynamic shaders, and other physically based rendering effects. Features that were once only possible on a high end game console now run on a device that fits in your pocket."

Earlier during the presentation, Samsung Senior Vice President of Product Strategy  Justin Denison promised a "PC-like gaming experience" thanks to Vulkan (and as someone who knows the PC gaming experience very well, I'll admit that i laughed at that. A lot).

While we have heard this kind of claims before, you can judge on your own by watching the videos just released by the publisher below, showcasing what ProtoStar can do running on a Samsung Galaxy S7.
