The new esports portal Paidia launches in beta, championing inclusivity in gaming for women and allies of all genders.

Paidia launched its full beta on November 10th, welcoming members to join them in fostering a more inclusive and diverse community in gaming.

After years of online harassment particularly targeting women and minority groups, Paidia enters the scene as a revolutionary platform for esports. The platform very explicitly denounces harassment of any kind and requires members to do the same via the "Paidia Pledge" upon signing up.

With the beta finally out, players can experience a supportive gaming community for themselves.

ESPORTS PORTAL PAIDIA

There's no denying that games can bring people together and create a wealth of positive experiences. At the same time, minority and female gamers have been continuously plagued by pointed harassment. According to a report in 2019, that number was as high as nearly 65% of online gamers who had encountered continued threats or other harmful experiences.

Now, aiming to be a truly inclusive platform, Paidia holds its members to a new, better standard. Their focus rests mainly on crafting a supportive and safe environment for women and allies of all genders to connect and play. Their commitment to prioritizing members' safety and respect is an incredibly refreshing approach, and a much-needed one.

Further, the women-led portal has partnered with industry giants Xbox Canada, Razer Inc., and Women in Games (WIG). Along with that, they've also gathered creators Jeannail Carter (@Cuddle_Core), Stephanie Harvey (@missharvey), and Kelsey Impicciche (@KelseyDangerous).

The combination of industry support and influencer engagement sets Paidia up to be a significant leader within the games space. It's both relieving and inspiring to see an esports-focused platform dedicated to showcasing the lesser-heard voices in games.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT ON PAIDIA?

Now, players can create an account on Paidia's website to begin exploring the events and tournaments offered. Initially, new members will be offered a 60-day free trial, which will then become $10/month for continued membership.

Additionally, players can expect:

  • A large library of games (like Valorant and Apex Legends) for players of all skills to host and participate in tournaments
  • Original content such as on-demand classes, articles, a podcast, and upcoming audio books
  • Access to new and affordable tech, merch, and gear with Paidia's partners, including select Razer Customs gear and Xbox Game Pass for PC

Though Paidia is still in beta, it shows some real promise to follow through on its mission to cultivate a safer gaming space. Until then, it's certainly a platform to watch. Hopefully, their mission will lead the way for other gaming platforms to follow suit.

Finally, you can follow them on the official Paidia Twitter or get a closer look at their currently available content.
