Following his disappearance last week, the New York Police Department confirmed the worst today and announced that YouTuber Desmond “Etika” Amofah had been found dead. Amofah was 29 years old.

Amofah went missing last week after posting a frightening video on his YouTube channel where he said goodbye to many in his life and also apologized for past actions. "It was a fun life. I had a great time. It was great. But for it to be cut so short—it’s fucked," Amofah said in the video. Friends and family of Amofah's were then unable to contact him soon afterward.

This past weekend, Amofah's belongings were then found on the Manhattan Bridge leading many to believe the worst had happened. As of this afternoon, the NYPD sadly confirmed those fears.

Amofah was well-known on YouTube for his hype videos and exciting personality. He cultivated a following mainly derived of Nintendo fans who would love to tune in to see him lose his mind at the latest addition to the roster of Super Smash Bros. or Nintendo's latest reveal in a Direct. Amofah also gained widespread attention in 2016 after 3D printing a fake Nintendo Switch that many thought initially was real.

One of my own personal favorite Etika hype moments was seeing his initial reaction to Persona 5's battle theme "Last Surprise."

Our best goes out to the friends and family of Amofah during this time.
