Europa Universalis 4 — What to Expect From the Leviathan Expansion
Europa Universalis 4 has announced its next expansion. Leviathan will make some important changes and bring about a few key reworks.
Europa Universalis 4 has been out for quite a while now. The game originally launched back in 2013, but Paradox has kept it alive through mountains of DLC and expansions. The next one is called Leviathan and it offers several new ways to play. Before we dive into all that, make sure to check out the new trailer below.
Europa Universalis 4: Leviathan is all about centralizing your might into “smaller and more focused” centers of power. That means the update provides you with new ways to build up your capital city as you take in resources from all of the areas you’ve previously conquered. This will also allow you to build beyond your construction limit, as long as you can front the bill.
That should lead to greater creativity in the hands of players. You’ll have several new options to help decide how you build out your empire. That should feel a bit like a shackle coming off, allowing you to experiment even more with your building plans.
On top of all the changes coming to how you handle and control power, all players should expect a free content update. So, even if you don’t purchase Leviathan, you’ll still have new things to do. This time around, the team is reworking the Southeast Asian and Australasian maps. That means long-time players should get ready to meet “new nations, new cultures, and new religions.”
Unfortunately, we don’t yet have a release date for Leviathan, but it shouldn’t be too much further out. Hopefully, we’ll hear more on that front soon. Europa Universalis 4 is available now on PC.
