'Big Alpha' for Evolve is Coming at the End of the Month

October 9, 2014

2K has announced the “Big Alpha” test for Evolve, providing a limited time beta for PS4, Xbox One and PC users at the end of the month.

The alpha will be available first to Xbox One owners 24 hours before other platforms, beginning October 30th and going through November 2nd. Limited access will also be available to PS4 and PC players starting October 31st until November 2nd.

Players can register for priority access and a chance to participate in the “Big Alpha” on Xbox One starting today by visiting the Evolve official website. Additionally, those who have already pre-ordered Evolve from participating retailers (GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart), and those who pre-order in the coming weeks will be guaranteed access to the alpha test on their platform of choice.

“The incredible reactions from early Evolve players have exceeded our highest expectations, but we still have a lot of hard work ahead of us in the coming months,” said Chris Ashton, design director at Turtle Rock Studios, in an official statement. “We need to stress test the servers and the matchmaking system, look at balance, unlock rates, etc. The alpha test is not fully representative of the final product, but it’s our chance to see what the game looks like in the real world, and we will test again in the open beta for Evolve exclusively for Xbox One in January 2015. The data gathered in the tests will help make Evolve the best that it can possibly be when it launches on February 10th, 2015.”

There will also be a limited number of codes made available through other avenues for those looking to participate in the alpha. The easiest way to get a code would be to follow Evolve on Twitter, Facebook and the Turtle Rock forums if you don’t want to pre-order the game for access.

Evolve will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC February 10th, 2015. In the meantime you can checkout the new “Big Alpha” trailer below and read our recent thoughts from our hands-on time with the game.
