Back before the release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare we reported a leaked video that seemingly confirmed a return of zombies to the franchise. Today, Sledgehammer Games released the official version of the trailer, showing off what is now known as Exo Zombies.
The trailer briefly shows a soldiers lighting up a flare and tossing it to signal an extraction before being swarmed by zombies. Realizing he is out of ammo, he books it for the flare where an aircraft swoops in to save him with covering fire. Gideon from the Advanced Warfare campaign pulls the soldier into the craft and then checks him to see if he had been bitten at all in the assault. Leaning out of the side of the craft he looks on at the complex being overrun by the undead before a zombie jumps all the way up to the craft to pull him out because they are now enhanced by the exo suit armor from the game.
After the action ends, the screen brings up text stating the new mode as Exo Zombies and stating that the “Season begins in January for Advanced Warfare DLC on Xbox Live.” It doesn’t confirm that Exo Zombies will be the first of the DLC coming to players this January, but it is strongly suggested. As part of the announcement, season pass owners will also receive early access to a new energy assault rifle dubbed the “AE4-Widowmaker” on December 11th to get them prepped for DLC1 early next year.
We found Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to be quite enjoyable and a bit of a breath of fresh air for the series, giving it a solid 8 out of 10. You can pick up a copy of the game for $59.99 now on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
