Today, EXOR Studios announced their most recent project X-Morph: Defense with a new reveal trailer. This game is a hybrid of the twin-stick shooting and tower defense genres and features fully dynamic environments to go along with an insane amount of destructibility.

As for the game’s story, EXOR Studios gave the following description:

You are the X-Morph – an alien species that invades Earth to harvest its resources and terraform the surface. Strategize in the build mode by carefully selecting various types of alien towers or throw yourself right into heat of the battle. Build mazes for incoming enemies in an environment that provides exceptional planning freedom. Tear down buildings and collapse bridges to support your defense or to simply indulge in a spectacle of unprecedented destruction. Possess a range of unique alien weapons and use defense strategies like you’ve never seen before in this genre.

One of the cooler things about X-Morph: Defense is that it allows you to build your defenses anywhere on the map. This in addition to the fully destructible environments allows you to siphon enemies down specific paths that lead to their demise. This is able to happen since enemies in X-Morph do not follow a predetermined route and they instead adapt to the changing landscape.

The X-Morph fighter that you pilot in the game is also able to transform into four different forms with each form boasting a different weapon and a unique ability. This lets you take on enemies and bosses in a variety of different ways and keeps the gameplay from becoming stale.

X-Morph Defense is slated to come out at some point later this year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can watch the announcement trailer for yourself below.
