Say Goodbye to Competition and Forum Fun for Halo Wars
It hasn’t been too long since Ensemble Studios gave the RTS genre a try by making Halo Wars, and already things seem to be taking a turn for the worst for the people that still play the game. As of December 15, 2010, Microsoft will pull the plug on the community site, deleting all posts, developer blogs and FAQ’s. Those who like to use the site’s leaderboards and statistics for competitive fun will also be disappointed in the fact that those will be gone as well. So now instead of going to HaloWars.com, expect to head over to Halo Waypoint‘s forums instead. Of course, this is all in an effort to give the Wars community a better experience, at least that’s what HaloWars.com moderator, Cocopjojo says in his statement about the matter;
“In an effort to provide the Halo Wars community a lively, active, and well-moderated set of forums for discussion, we are soon going to be transitioning the Halo Wars forums to Halo Waypoint’s forums. What this means is that the Halo Wars site will be taken offline and we will ask all of you, if you’d like to continue discussing the game, to do so over at the home for all things Halo, Halo Waypoint.”
He goes on to say that this really isn’t a bad thing as most are presumed to think, but rather just a part of the “big plans” they have for the game. With this move will be “fully moderated” forums that are “updated daily” for those who decide to continue on with their Wars posting on Waypoint. What’s your take on this “move?” Do you think it really is to give the community a better experience, or is it their way of letting the game slowly die off?
