Last weekend, hundreds of gaming outlets, private parties, and those looking to band together for a good cause came together for Extra Life, the annual charity event that hosts hundreds of 24-hour gaming marathons across the country to support children's health facilities and hospitals.

In a post on the Extra Life organization's Facebook, the group confirmed that this while this year's total funds are still be ing calculated, so far estimates are putting the total funds raised at over $5.4 million from the numerous marathon sessions hosted over the weekend of October 24th-26th.

Donations are still coming in from this year's event, and contributions can still be made up to December 31st, but this year's tally still seems something to be proud of toward the benefit of the kids.
