Though the closed beta is currently running, and expanding to over 100,000 additional players in the next few weeks, Lionhead Studios have announced a slight delay in the open beta for Fable Legends. Originally scheduled for the holiday season, it has been pushed back to Spring 2016. The reasoning given for the delay was the sheer size of the game based on player feedback.
To be honest, we didn’t anticipate just how big Fable Legends is becoming. It’s simply the most ambitious game we’ve ever created at Lionhead. We’ve built a unique and innovative multiplayer experience combining RPG and RTS gameplay which allows you to play, and use your gear seamlessly, across Xbox One and Windows 10. On top of this, we’ve built a beautiful new world full of grand stories and adventures. And it’s taking more time than we thought.
The beta has been consistently updated with new quests, monsters and gear over the period it has been open and more and more players have been allowed entry periodically. Currently, servers are running 24/7 and hundreds of thousands of fans have participated.
Fable Legends is due next year on Xbox One and PC.
