Fairy Tail RPG Announced for PS4, Switch, PC with a Teaser Trailer
Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail is getting an RPG from Koei Tecmo and Gust in 2020.
Koei Tecmo announced on September 5 they’re giving Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail a brand new RPG for PS4, Switch, and PC. The game will launch in 2020. Gust is handling the game’s development.
Koei Tecmo described this Fairy Tail game as a “Magic x Guild x RPG” game. Koei Tecmo also stated we’ll see more of this Fairy Tail RPG at Tokyo Game Show 2019. The game will be part of Koei Tecmo’s stage event at TGS on September 15. The event’s YouTube page can be accessed here. The event will feature Hisashi Koinuma, who is credited as Fairy Tail‘s General Producer, and Keisuke Kikuchi, one of the game’s Producers. It’ll also include Sayaka Ohara, Erza’s seiyuu.
Seeing Gust is handling Fairy Tail instead of Omega Force, it means it shouldn’t turn out to be “Fairy Tail Musou”. Then again, Hisashi Koinuma was the producer of multiple licensed Musou games, such as Hyrule Warriors. However, Keisuke Kikuchi was the producer of action RPG Nights of Azure and turn-based RPG Blue Reflection. Nights of Azure didn’t get a new episode since Nights of Azure 2 in 2017 (which I personally found incredibly inferior compared to the first game). This new Fairy Tail might be what Nights of Azure‘s team has been working on these past years over a Nights of Azure 3.
Anyway, the game’s teaser trailer is included below. We’ll know how much RPG it is at TGS 2019 on September 15. And remember, kids, Groove Adventure Rave was a way better manga than Fairy Tail and is the true Hiro Mashima masterpiece.
