Falcom’s First Vita Title, Ys: Celceta no Jukai, Likely Coming West

If you’re like myself, a big fan of the Ys series, you’ll already know that Falcom is working on a title for Sony’s new handheld, which is already on store shelves in Japan. What you probably didn’t know is that there seems to be plans to bring it to North America and Europe, if an interview with the company’s president on Gamasutra is anything to go by. Toshihiro Kondo was interviewed as to what he thought of te Western audience and their relationship with XSEED, who publishes their recent titles here in North America.

We are starting to realize that Ys is a popular series in the West. Up to this point, we were concentrating on the Japanese market, but now we’re starting to understand the West a little bit. We are really happy that we are able to get the Ys series out in America, because by doing that, to be honest, we’ve begun to realize what parts of the games are lacking in effort. It was a good opportunity for us to notice that. We’re hoping the Western audiences will really enjoy our new PlayStation Vita Ys game, Celceta no Jukai, [DualShockers editor’s note: Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta, in English] and we’re putting a lot of effort into it.

As mentioned, I loved Ys Seven and Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and would love to see the series come to America on the PlayStation Vita, so this is great news indeed.
