It's been a busy few years for Bethesda and co.

There was the Fallout 76 debacle, the announcement of a major new IP and the sixth title in one of the biggest franchises of all time and, of course, the small matter of an $8 billion acquisition.

Now, with the backing of giants Microsoft, Bethesda are likely to be going full steam ahead on projects new, and old, but what does this mean for Fallout?

Let's take a look and judge what the chances of seeing an E3 2021 announcement of Fallout 5 are like.

Fallout 5 - The Story So Far

So far, there is no Fallout 5 story, however, it's been a little while since we got our last "mainline" traditional Fallout title.

Fallout 4 will be six years old, come this November. There was a seven year gap between Fallout 3 which released in 2008 and Fallout 4 which dropped in 2015.

If I was a betting man, I'd say this means that a new Fallout title is likely in the works - but could we see it at E3 2021?

Will We See Fallout 5 at E3 2021?

I doubt we will.

Bethesda will be sharing the stage with Microsoft now so they will find their time more limited than usual.

Considering we're expecting a big Starfield reveal, plus potential Elder Scrolls VI news and the usual smattering of Fallout 76 and ESO, I think the chances of seeing Fallout 5 at E3 2021 are slim. They also MAY want to dedicate some time to the upcoming Fallout TV series.

Never say never, they could always tease it like they did Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI. However, Bethesda tends to enjoy a quick turnaround with Fallout, announcing it, then releasing it a few months later.

Unfortunately, with all Bethesda's development likely focused on the aforementioned titles, I can't help but feel this one could still be a way out.
