10 Covert Scout Armor

F76 - Covert Scout Armor

Sneaking isn't a huge thing in Fallout 76 with it being a big open-world MMORPG. With that being said, this isn't an armor set that should be routinely overlooked. Each piece, aside from the mask, has a sneak bonus which can be helpful when trying to avoid a fight when low health.

This is a lightweight armor that sits in the same ranks as its fellow Scout Armor variants. It isn't weak by any stretch of the imagination and can be a good regular-wear set for players. Its being lightweight also means it can help manage inventory weight when building up your character.

9 Arctic Marine Armor

F76 - Arctic Marine Armor Set

Another armor set with a unique one-off is the Arctic Marine Armor. It has the same stats and builds as the base kit Marine Armor for the most part. It has one different effect that neither the Marine Armor nor any other armor set has. Cryo Resistance.

This is the only set of armor that provides Cryo Resistance, and it also has the stats of a basic Marine Armor set. That means it is durable, has decent damage resistance, and isn't too encumbering. A well-balanced armor set with a nice extra buff added in.

8 Metal Armor

F76 - Light Variant of Metal Armor Set

If you're not going to be facing off against a lot of Energy based attacks, grab this armor set. It comes in 3 variations for different play styles. A light variant for those looking for more mobility and a heavy variant for those looking to tank the damage. There is also a medium set for a balance between protection and mobility.

This set has the highest damage resistance of all body armor sets. There is still that lack of Energy Resistance to take into consideration when picking this set up for a trip out into the wastes, but if you're facing off against a Deathclaw. Well, this will keep your insides from becoming outsides.

7 Scout Armor

Need a good equilibrium between Energy Resistance and Damage Resistance so your character isn't constantly switching armors around to best handle the battle ahead? Grab some Scout Armor.

6 Robot Armor

F76 - Sturdy or Medium tier variant of Robot Armor Set

Robot Armor has light, medium, and heavy styles for different gaming styles. It is a well-balanced set of armor when it comes to Energy Resistance and Damage Resistance. This set also has an extra bonus on other armor sets.

The Robot Armor has built-in Radiation resistance. Most armor sets don't include this nice bonus. That means no matter what parts of the wastes you're wandering through, you'll have more protection with this set than many others.

5 Brotherhood Recon Armor

F76 - Brotherhood Recon Armor Set

Probably one of the most gushed-over sets is the Brotherhood Recon Armor. And there's a good reason for that. Players can modify this armor set with a jetpack. Protection and the power of flight? Hello Superman.

This set has similar stats to the Secret Service Set. It has all 3 of the major types of resistance - damage, radiation, and energy. However, while it has a high Damage Resistance, it is a bit lower in the radiation and energy resistance areas.

4 Thorn Armor

F76 - Thorn Armor Set

A Scout Armor set that improves sneaking like the Covert Armor set? Check. Has a set bonus that is unique and helps fight against a certain type of enemy? Check. Look cool and like a wilderness man all at once? Check.

The Thorn Armor has a better time against melee-based attackers. These attackers will have a harder time finding you when you are sneaking. They will also take bleed damage if they manage to get a hit in on you.

3 Excavator Power Armor

F76 - Excavator Power Armor Set

So you like carrying a lot of ammo and other supplies, but weight is an issue. You're already running the perk cards to help with inventory weight, but that's still not enough. If maintaining a Power Armor Set isn't an issue for whatever play style you have, then grab the Excavator Armor Set.

As with all Power Armor Sets, the Excavator has high damage and energy resistance, but even higher radiation resistance. Carry all that you want through the radiation zones against any enemy.

2 Strangler Heart Power Armor

F76 - Strangler Heart Power Armor Set

Power Armor can be a pain to maintain, but the best Power Armors make keeping them running worth the effort. The Strangler Power Armor Set is one of these sets that someone shouldn't ignore simply because they think Power Armor isn't worth it.

This set has a poison buff that will afflict enemies that attack or even approach the player. On top of that, it has a very high Damage Resistance, a higher Energy Resistance, and a huge Radiation resistance. Easily the Power Armor Set for players looking to just wander the wastes with enemies running from the mere stench of them.

1 Secret Service Set

F76 - Secret Service Armor Set

By far the most versatile set of armor in the game is the Secret Service Armor Set. This set has great Damage Resistance and nice Energy Resistance. The best is the Radiation Resistance which when the set is maxed out can match some power armor sets. Without the cost of a Power Armor Set for maintenance.

It also can have a jetpack added as a modification. That means flight is achievable with this armor set. It is a heavy armor type, but that's a fair trade for not having to constantly maintain Power Armor while still having a large chunk of its defense levels.
