Bethesda Responds Following Fan Criticisms of Fallout 76: Power Armor Edition's Nylon Bag
As several fans noted in the past few weeks, the Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76 shortchanged its canvas carrying bag with a cheaper nylon bag.
Fallout 76 was one of the most anticipated titles set to arrive in the later half of the year thanks to its blend of multiplayer within the richness of the Fallout universe, and while the final product left something to be desired among some fans, more outcry has arisen surrounding the quality of one of its merchandise items within the Power Armor Edition of the game.
Following the debut of Fallout 76 earlier this month — specifically with that of the game’s premium “Power Armor Edition” that retails for $199 — several fans through Reddit and social media noted that one of the components of the special edition, a duffel bag carrying case for the Power Armor Helmet, didn’t quite turn out as intended back when the game was first revealed.
Originally, the bag that was advertised with the “Power Armor Edition” was shown to be made from a more durable canvas material to hold the helmet. However, fans that have posted pictures of the actual bag have shown that instead the bag that shipped to consumers is made of nylon, a noticeable shift in quality compared to what was originally advertised.
Over on Imgur, one user posted the original promotional material for the Power Armor Edition (which you can also find above) and the response they received from Bethesda’s customer service team after putting in a complaint for the nylon bag. In response to the complaint the Bethesda support representative explained that the bags were switched from canvas to nylon during production “due to unavailability of materials” (and, likely, the higher costs that canvas would have presented over nylon).
After several fan complaints from various corners online, Bethesda provided a statement on Twitter that the company “[understands and respects] that there is disappointment” from fans with the quality of the bag material from the Power Armor Edition, and as compensation, players can file a support ticket that will grant them 500 Atoms to use on in-game items in Fallout 76.
We understand and respect that there is disappointment with the bag in the Power Armor Edition. We are sorry. Please contact Bethesda Support to provide proof of your CE purchase. They will assist in granting your account 500 Atoms.
