Fallout 76 is Heading to Steam Alongside Wastelanders Update in April

Fallout 76 will finally be available on Steam and the Wastelanders update is coming to all versions of the game on April 7.

The Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 was heralded by Bethesda as a savior of sorts for the game when it was revealed at E3 2019. As you likely know, Fallout 76 why despised by many upon its launch due to lots of technical and just stripping away a lot of mechanics that were intrinsic to Fallout. The Wastelanders update is supposed to inject some life back into the game by finally adding dialogue options, NPCs and more. It was originally pegged for a Fall 2019 release, but Bethesda delayed Fallout 76: Wastelanders into 2020 back in October. Today, they revealed when it will finally arrive.

Fallout 76: Wastelanders will finally hit all platforms for free on April 7. Additionally, Bethesda will finally be bringing the game to Steam on that day as well. Many were disappointed at launch because the PC version of Fallout 76 was only available on, so Fallout 76 will likely be able to broaden its audience when it hits Steam.

Bethesda also used this opportunity to recap what exactly is included in Fallout 76: Wastelanders. The original main quest for the game has been “revamped” and an entirely new main quest has been added. These quests feature the return of human NPCs, and a dialogue system with a heavy focus on choice and reputation, evoking Fallout 3 and New Vegas, will serve as the backbone of Wastelanders. Bethesda is also promising that a lot of new creatures and gear are coming too in the Wastelanders expansion, even if they aren’t the main draw.

While some people are just done with Fallout 76 at this point after several controversies, the fact that Wastelanders is a free update across all platforms and that the game is finally coming to Steam will likely give this disappointing game the second wind that it has been looking for. Though the update itself is free, Bethesda will be offering the Raiders Content Bundle and Settlers Content Bundle, which you can see the contents of in the images below.

Fallout 76 is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on Amazon and the Wastelanders update and Steam release are poised for an April 7 launch.
