Who would you want to see play Kratos in a live-action God of War? As always, fans have a lot to say about it.
The idea of turning popular games into movies or TV shows isn't a new concept and has been around for the best part of 30 years. Although, unfortunately, many don't cut the mustard - Yes, I'm looking at you Max Payne (2008) and Assassin's Creed (2016), the list goes on - there are a few that that has done relatively well on the big screen.
And that moves us quite nicely onto God of War. Although Sony said earlier this year that they don't have movies or TV shows currently in development for the massive Santa Monica title, that will never stop fans from debating who they'd want to see as Kratos if Sony decided to change their minds because, you know, the studio will obviously listen to them and stuff.
Kratos, as you know very well, is the God of War series protagonist who dons a unique and distinct look. With his rippling muscles and powerful persona, not every actor could take on this magnificent beast. Over on Reddit where all the options, good and bad are aired, God of War fans have put their two cents in on who they think should play Kratos in the live-action movie.
The creator of the post, u/Responsible-Pause-99, believes that actor Faran Tahir would make an amazing Kratos. Tahir who certainly has a similar face to Kratos has played in movies like Iron Man and TV shows that include Prison Break and Criminal Minds.
Comments under the post suggest that Tom Hardy or Game of Thrones' Jason Momoa would make an even better fit. There's even a comment that states that The Rock could potentially fill the shoes of the "Ghost of Sparta".
Although one comment does raise an interesting and valid point. Ashcartwright96 states that "There's more to portraying a character than looks" which when we think of HBO's The Last of Us and how people think that Pedro Pascal looked nothing like Joel, he certainly has the creditability and emotional range to slip inside the shoes of the gruff survivor.
Someone else also pointed out that Henry Cavill was cast perfectly for Netflix's The Witcher even though he initially bore little similarity to Geralt but because he's a huge fan of the games, he was able to hone into Geralt's character with ease to portray an excellent version.
Personally speaking, I can't see anyone else playing Kratos other than Christopher Judge. That iconic deep voice is quintessentially his and his alone as well as great acting skills and emotional depth that's suited to the complex character needed for Kratos.
