on July 13, 2015 4:26 PM

With the sudden and tragic passing of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, the gaming industry is standing as one to pay homage to a giant that isn’t with us anymore, but video game professionals aren’t alone in this.

Million of fans joined the mourning, and many did so in a very creative way, with artwork that expressed grief, brings up sweet memories and fosters remembrance. Below you can see a few examples. Of course there are many more. The internet is vast, just as the sadness for Iwata-san’s premature departure.

We tried to list the author under each piece of artwork, but that as proven difficult, given how many times each has been reposted. If you are the author of any of those lovely and moving drawings, and you notice an incorrect attribution, please contact me.

If you see more artwork that we might have overlooked, and you’d like to share, please do so in the comments (possibly citing the original author).

Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
