Far Cry 4 Developers Discuss Creating Kyrat and What Makes it a Fun Open-World Environment

Far Cry 4 takes place in the fictional country of Kyrat. This nation is heavily influenced by Nepal so some of the developers of the game went there to study it. This and how the setting of Kyrat makes for an exciting open-world game are two things discussed in this latest video which was shot during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Though Kyrat isn’t a real place, the team wanted to make it as real as possible and going to Nepal and being immersed in its culture helped them in that regard. They wanted to capture the clash of ancient and modern. For example, there are goat sacrifices in the game as well as armed rebels. As far as gameplay, the high mountains of Kyrat provided a lot of vertical gameplay. Gamers will have access to gyrocopters and handgliders for example.

Far Cry 4 will be released on the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 18th.
