Fresh out of E3 2017, publisher Ubisoft and developer Ubisoft Montreal have teamed up with PlayStation to show off more of Far Cry 5 with a demo of raw gameplay footage.

Mostly showing off more combat, the gameplay footage also notably features one of the game's already revealed Guns for Hire and prominent side characters: Nick Rye.

According to Ubisoft, Nick comes from a long line of military pilots who has taken up the fight against Eden's Gate -- the fanatical cult that has taken a hold of Hope County -- with his cropduster plane that is strapped with some serious firepower. Nick's motivations are said to be his wife, who he is trying to start a family with, and apparently Eden Gate's have been trying to aggressively buy Nick's cropdusting business, aka his livelihood.

As you may know, for Far Cry 5 Guns for Hire are no longer disposable mercenaries or interchangeable rebels, like in the series' past. Rather, they're members of the community with personalities and special skills. You apparently can recruit up to three allies at a time to support you. At the moment only three of these Guns for Hire have been revealed.

Set in modern times, you play as a protagonist who is a junior deputy police officer in the fictional Hope County, Montana. Players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, called Project at Eden’s Gate. Quickly the county breaks into a violent take over between a resistance group and the cult. Your job: to help liberate the Hope County community and themselves.

Far Cry 5 is set to release on February 27, 2018 for PS4, PC, Xbox One, PS4 Pro, and Xbox One X. If you want, you can check out our preview of the game, our interview with the game’s creative director and, its various special editions and preorder bonuses.
