The Far Cry 6 team pays truibute to colleague's pet that died during the game's development.

Ubisoft's latest endeavour into the Far Cry franchise has seen some mixed results. While there are players who love the open-world element and its familiar mechanics, others feel like the game has become a tad boring now and needs to change up its formula.

Regardless, there's no question mark surrounding the amount of work and detail the developers implement into these titles with hidden items and discoverable secrets lying in wait around every corner for those curious enough to take a look.

For one hidden piece of content found in Yara, in particular, lies a personal and sad story surrounding a member of the Ubisoft team's pet.

In an article from Wired, it discusses the trials and tribulations the team had to go through throughout the pandemic with "The game already five years in the making and there was a lot at stake to figure out." A lot can happen within that time from family life to personal issues, including deaths.

Previous game director for Far Cry 6 Tim Timmins has shared on Twitter that his gorgeous cat Totoro sadly passed away while making the game. Because people can actually be wholesome and kind sometimes, the dev team wanted to immortalise Tim's feline friend around the walls of Yara. The images show Totoro snuggled up with Tim's other cat Yoshi and I think I have something in my eye.

It's a beautiful tribute and something that Tim can always look back on in memory of his furry companion. Also, it gives players the oppertunity to find all of Totoro's images as they wander around the city and then post them onto Twitter for Tim to see as a final wholesome act of kindness because, boy, do we need it.

Far Cry 6 is available on Amazon Luna, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S right now.
