After Ubisoft teased more details for the upcoming Far Cry 6 DLC earlier this week, the publisher delivered by lifting the lid on the game's "Lost Between Worlds" expansion.

Arriving on December 6th for $19.99, the latest expansion for the hit first-person shooter puts gamers back in the shoes of Dani Rojas as they navigate multi-dimensional computer simulation "rifts", each one a twisted funhouse mirror of Yara. Created by a strange AI named Fai, players will have to collect crystalline shards from each of the different versions of Yara in order to escape back to reality.

Most of the rifts are currently unknown, but Ubisoft teased a few of the strange new worlds to explore, including an active volcano, a submerged Yara filled with sharks, and racing a deadly lightning storm. As seen in the announcement trailer, most of the rifts look like a strange, post-apocalypse Yara, with one seemingly on islands in the sky while another looks like the Mirror Dimension from Dr. Strange. In addition to new levels with new ways to play, players will be given access to a new arsenal of deadly weaponry to take down the strange, crystal lifeforms that occupy the space between realities.

Each rift has a purple portal and an orange portal, each in different locations and each leading to one of five crystal shards. Upon collecting a shard, Dani gets new abilities, skills, and tools that make subsequent runs a little bit easier, from unlocking shortcuts to powers that aid in combat. Small, glimmering shards called "glints" let players retry a rift after failing, retaining all the weapons, gear, and abilities they unlocked to try and make it through a second time.

Far Cry 6 Lost Between Worlds

In addition to the upcoming DLC, a new update for Far Cry 6 makes substantial changes to the base game, including the addition of a New Game+ mode. For those that need to find every hidden item and secret, a new Completionists Aid has been added, which should also make those pesky achievements and trophies a little easier to attain. Both features are available in the latest free update, which should be live now on all platforms.

Finally, for those that have yet to play Far Cry 6, a free trial is now available on all platforms. If a player downloads the trial and wants to continue with the adventure, progress will carry over into the main game. "Lost Between Worlds" is available on December 6th for $19.99 as a standalone purchase or as part of the Far Cry 6 Season Pass.
