A new video was released today from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Impulse Gear ahead of the release of their upcoming VR first-person shooter Farpoint. This video specifically details the process of creating the new VR Aim Controller that will be launching alongside the game.

In the video, members of the Impulse Gear development team talk about the early stages of the company and the direction that they wanted to go in. Early on, they knew that they wanted to create virtual reality games, and more specifically, virtual reality shooters. This led them to prototyping a new controller that could be used in conjunction with games of this genre. After a few overhauls, the current Aim Controller as it is seen now was created.

In other recent Farpoint news, the game recently received a new story trailer that launched alongside the announcement of going gold. If you want to familiarize yourself with the story of Farpoint a bit more, then you can head here and watch it for yourself.

Farpoint is due out next week on Tuesday, May 16 and is exclusive to PlayStation VR. A bundle of both the game and the Aim Controller will be launching on the same day for a retail price of $79.99. However, you can purchase just the game by itself for the price of $49.99.

Be sure to check out the new video below detailing the creation and functions of the Aim Controller.
