Yesterday Microsoft released Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, a stand-alone expansion of Forza Horizon 2 that is free until April 10th and offers a large chunk of the experience of PlayGround Games' tying it in with the upcoming Furious 7 flick.

The whole operation is quite the stroke of genius. Not only it offers one of the best demos I've seen for a racing game, but it uses the popularity of the movies to entice people into downloading it. It's also big enough to be identified as a freebie more than a demo, adding one more coat of "cool" paint to the whole thing.

In addition to that, it definitely looks the part, and Forza Horizon 2's engine really makes the Toretto-style Dodge Charger R/T and the other cars chosen for the "Fast & Furious" experience shine. If you want to see before you download, you can check out 72 screenies below.

Normally movie tie-in games suck. There are no two way around it.  Yet, this is a movie tie-in done right, probably taking advantage of the enormous marketing money of a film to offer us what's basically a free game, and a fun one on top of it.

If you want to give it a try before the free period expires, you can download and here for Xbox One and here for Xbox 360 (but it won't look as good).
