Type-Moon revealed a second trailer for Fate/Extra Record, remake of the dungeon crawler + visual novel game first released on PSP on July 22, 2010.The trailer was first shown at the Fate/Extra Wada Arco exhibition in Japan ongoing from July 21 to August 9, 2022. Wada Arco is a prolific artist and the character designer of the Extra series inside the Fate franchise. She's the one who designed popular characters like Saber Nero and Caster Tamamo. English-speaking anime fans these days know her as the Mama of Hololive EN VTuber Ouro Kronii.

The exhibition also includes more gameplay footage and artwork for the remake. Some camrips of the trailer appeared online a few days after the exhibition began. However, Type-Moon has on July 31 officially uploaded the trailer after showcasing it on the ~Re:Collection of Avalon le Fae~ FGO 7th anniversary event.

The trailer showcased more of the characters appearing in Fate/Extra, with some new Reality Marble footage. The trailer's narration quickly re-explained the concept of the Moon Holy Grail War for those unfamiliar with it: How ultimately only one Wizard will make it out alive and get their wish granted.

Fate/Extra Record Director Kazuya Nino Explains The Remake's Development Is Behind Schedule By A Year

Additionally, Kazuya Nino (planning and direction on the remake, producer on the original, and director of Type-Moon Studio BB) explained why we haven't heard about the remake for so long. (Thanks to our peers at Automaton for pointing it out). On Twitter, Kazuya Nino explained the game is around one year behind schedule because of changes in the developing environment and changing partner companies. I assume that by "changes in the game's developing environment" he mainly meant Covid delaying things.

It's also interesting to note that Wada Arco's new artbook, released as the exhibition, was similarly delayed by a year. The artbook was first announced for a 2021 release back on the Fate/Extra Record announcement livestream in 2020.

Last but not least, it's also important to note that with this trailer, Type-Moon has officially confirmed the remake is titled "Fate/Extra Record". Until now, "Fate/Extra Record" was a tentative title. They decided to keep it.

Fate/Extra Record was announced in July 2020 for the original game's 10th anniversary on a livestream featuring Kana Ueda (Tohsaka Rin) and Kazuya Nino. Be sure to check our full summary of the live stream with some gameplay and all the details shared. The stream also included comments from Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi we covered separately.

Fate/Extra Record still has no platforms announced, and no release date estimate. In the past, Kazuya Nino stated he wants to release the remake on as many platforms as possible. The game's official site is still in teaser mode.

Type-Moon Studio BB is also working on two other unannounced games, one of them being a brand new game that could "take ten years to release" Nino jokingly said on the Fate/Extra Record stream. Kazuya Nino also mentioned he'd like to remake Fate/Extra CCC later on but is a bit worried about the game being too lewd.
