Xbox Games With Gold – Ranking February’s Releases

Here's our official ranking of this months Games with Gold titles.

Microsoft is feeling very generous this month. We are not only getting a bumper crop of five games in this month’s Games With Gold promotion, but they are five great games. Which ones should you play first though? Let’s take a look.

5. Lost Planet 2 (Xbox 360)

The Lost Planet series has gained a bit of a cult following since its release back on both Xbox 360. Capcom’s Lost Planet 2 is a direct sequel to their 2008 shooter and takes place 10 years after the original game (which itself got a prequel in Lost Planet 3). The game was praised for its multiplayer mode and some gameplay elements but ultimately fell short in other areas. That said, there’s still a great time to be had here.

4. Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb (Xbox)

Ah, back in the heyday when licensed games could actually be half decent. Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb released on the original Xbox back in 2003 and was received pretty well. The mix of fun gameplay and a solid story made it endearing to fans at the time. With a new Indiana Jones game in the works too, there’s no better time to go back and visit an old one.

3. Dandara: Trials of Fear (Xbox One)

Dandara is a charming 2D indie platformer. The game has strong Metroidvania elements, coupled with tight controls and interesting mechanics. For anybody interested in this genre, Dandara is worth checking out.

2. Resident Evil

If you can get past the first Resident Evil’s tank controls, there’s a fantastic game here. Capcom’s second title in this month’s promotion is a bonafide classic. It laid the foundations for one of gaming’s biggest franchises and offers some compelling puzzles and genuine scares. With Resident Evil Village on the horizons, why not go back and revisit where it all began. Disclaimer: this one doesn’t include any tall vampires.

1. Gears 5 (Xbox One)

Gears 5 is underrated. Dropping the “of War” part of the title, 2019’s entry into the world of Gears is fantastic. It contains one of the best stories in the series, some great level design and looked fantastic. We scored it a 9/10 in our official Gears 5 review and said the game “just feels like a complete package.”
