Feist: Yet Another Indie Game That Looks Amazing

By Allen Park

January 17, 2011

As if  you needed another reason to think that this year would be dominated by indie games, the longtime developers of Feist have finally updated their blog after nearly a year of inactivity to proclaim that their fantastic looking platformer would be released in 2011. Although it looks like just another artsy-fartsy puzzle-based platformer, the guys developing this sound like they’re concentrating heavily on the narrative aspects of the game, attempting to make it a compelling experience through the plot as well as through the gameplay.

That tickles my fancy quite a bit, as there are admittedly quite a few indie games out there that, for one reason or another, emphasize gameplay over story. No word yet on any release dates, but rest assured, if this game really does come out this year, you’ll definitely hear about it here.

Allen is an utter whore of a gamer; he's completely open-minded to all games, be they AAA blockbusters or $5 casual children's games. His focus is on indie games specifically, valuing gameplay and ingenuity over sparkly visuals and ridiculous gimmicks. When he's not geeking out over the newest art game, he's out toning his sexy, sculpted shoulders while surfing epic 1.5ft waves, or having a good time with local, high-gravity microbrews.
