On the Final Fantasy 7 The First Soldier stream, Tetsuya Nomura shared a new update for the sequel to the remake, FF7 Remake Part 2, most notably revealing it'll have a different atmosphere than the first game, and how it's a direct sequel to the Yuffie Intermission part in Intergrade. A new trailer for Intergrade was revealed as well.

Near the end of the livestream, Tetsuya Nomura shared a fun anecdote regarding a discussion he had with Yoshinori Kitase the morning before the stream. He then continued to reveal a new development update for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2. I translated Nomura's comments below.

Tetsuya Nomura on FF7 Remake Part 2 (May 7, 2021)

Tetsuya Nomura: "I've seen a lot of comments during the livestream asking about the Remake's sequel. I was on a call with Kitase early this morning, before 9 AM. Obviously we knew fans would ask about the sequel during the stream, so he asked me to confirm how far I'd answer (laughs). He asked me about so many things I was surprised myself (laughs), and I told him I wouldn't reveal that much."

Tetsuya Nomura: "The game's development has progressed quite a lot. And, well, we will properly announce the sequel when the time is right. And I can say Cloud will be running in the wilderness. The sequel's atmosphere will be different from the first game. The game's development is going very smoothly , so please wait for more information. Moreover, the sequel game will take place right after Intergrade, so please look forward to Intergrade as well."

With the "Cloud will be running through the wilderness" part, Nomura implied the sequel will have a world map like experience. He also confirmed fans will need to play the Yuffie part in Intergrade to fully be prepared for the sequel. Lastly, the development going smoothly could mean we could get a first trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, with actual gameplay, soon.

FF7 Remake Part 2 official title, release date

In the past, Square Enix stated multiple times the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development. However, the game's official name was not revealed yet, and we have no release date estimate either. "Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2" is a placeholder name we’re using. No platforms have been confirmed as well, but it's very likely the sequel is a PS5 exclusive.

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on June 10, 2021, exclusively on PS5.
