It's safe to say that Final Fantasy XIV has been one of the most popular MMORPGs of the last two decades. Rivaled only by games like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy has had a persistent and strong player base since its launch in 2010. Right now, it might seem like servers are down, but fret not—it's all in service of the FFXIV 5.45 hotfix.

Announced last Thursday in a post to Square Enix's official website, the scheduled server shutdown will be in effect from February 15, 10:00 p.m. PST to February 16, 2:00 a.m. PST. So if you were looking to farm items or complete some quests during that time, you are, unfortunately, out of luck.

The FFXIV 5.45 hotfix maintenance will affect all worlds in the game and, according to the website, "the Home World Transfer Service will be suspended 30 minutes before maintenance begins, and will be unavailable until maintenance has ended." Additionally, an unspecified amount of features will be disabled in the Final Fantasy XIV companion app until maintenance has completed.

The new update will add new job quests, new side story quests, and multiple new chapters have been added to New Game+. There will also be new furnishings available for in-game houses and a few other miscellaneous cosmetic things such as new hairstyles and emotes. Battle system changes include a higher level cap for the blue mage, new blue magic spells, and new entries in the blue mage log.
