FIFA 20 Pre-Season Event Gives Players Rewards for This Year and Next

FIFA 20 is back with yet another big promo. Pre-Season lets players earn rewards for FIFA 21, while also getting another chance to pack the game's best.

With FIFA 21‘s release date pushed back due to COVID-19, the team at EA Sports has had to get creative with FIFA 20 content to hold fans over. Today, the team kicked off a brand new event called Pre-Season where players can earn rewards for both FUT 20 and FUT 21. It’s a move that might remind some of the stuff the Madden team does; however, this isn’t quite to that level. That said, there is a fair bit to get into. Check it out after the break.

As mentioned above, one of the bigger pieces of news is the rewards for FUT 21. These won’t be game-changers for next year’s game, but they’ll help you out a bit while starting. By completing different objectives and SBCs, you can earn coin boosts, kits, and some extra chemistry styles. Presumably, this is just the start of those rewards. Make sure to keep an eye on FIFA 20‘s Twitter for more updates.

Shifting the focus back to FIFA 20, players can expect to pack some of the game’s best players yet again. And, for the first time in FIFA history, Team of the Year players are back in packs. That’s a massive move that should make those top players much more attainable for the casual players.

Next month is also the return of Champions League football and FIFA 20 is hopping into that party as well. For starters, any player with a Road to the Final live card who plays for a team still competing got an automatic +3 overall boost today. Those players are still eligible for boosts based on wins so that 91-rated Riyad Mahrez I randomly packed during Summer Heat could jump even higher in the next few weeks.

It’s not just old cards that are getting boosted though. EA is also dropping new RTTF cards throughout the proceedings, starting today with Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde. You can grab his 93-rated live card for a very reasonable price. Of course, Madrid is probably not advancing to the next round, but it’s still a sick card on the cheap.

Excitingly, FIFA 20 is continuing with the very popular Showdown concept introduced in Summer Heat. Basically, these SBCs take real-world matchups and put them into FUT. You complete the SBC and get a high-rated player. If that player’s team wins the actual contest, he gets an in-game upgrade. It’s a fun system that introduced new top-end players into the game. We don’t have any available yet, but with Champions and Europa League kicking off next Wednesday, we’ll surely see some soon.

EA is also introducing limited-time puzzle SBCs during the halftime breaks of different tournament matches. Plus, the team has plans to showcase some of the top transfers for next season during this promo. Expect to see Timo Werner with a Chelsea badge very soon.

It’s quite a wave of solid content. The hope is that EA supports the hype with upgrade packs and the like. Those aren’t here just yet, but I’d be very surprised to not see several new things added over the next few weeks. It’s tough to say if this will be as fun as Summer Heat was, but it has that kind of potential.

FIFA 20 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. FIFA 21 launches on October 6 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It will come to next-gen consoles once those are announced.
