EA Reveals the Player Ratings of the Top 100 Footballers in FIFA 20

FIFA 20 has finally revealed the player ratings of the game's top 100 players. There are a few surprises in store for veteran FIFA fans.

September 9, 2019

Late last week, EA announced the top 100 players in the 2020 edition of their yearly FIFA juggernaut. Today, they took things a step further by doling out the actual ratings for each of those 100 players. There is a lot to parse through here, but it’s great to get an early look at some of the players you should be targeting in both Career Mode and Ultimate Team.

The top 10 is made up of an elite selection of players rated 90 and above. This portion of the list features mainly attacking players, with the top four all being expert offensive forces. Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk (90) is the lone defensive player, while Atletico’s Jan Oblak (91) and Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen (90) representing the keepers. Luka Modric of Real Madrid (90) and Kevin De Bruyne (91) from Manchester City are the only two midfield options in the top 10, with De Bruyne being the only non-attacker in the top five. Among the attackers are Liverpool’s Mo Salah (90), Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard (1), PSG’s Neymar Jr.(92), Piemonte Calcio’s (Juventus) Cristiano Ronaldo (93), and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (94).

Interestingly, this is the first time since 2016 that Messi finds himself above Ronaldo in the rankings. It may have something to do with FIFA losing the Juventus license to Konami’s PES series, though Messi did score 51 goals to Ronaldo’s 28 last year. Another cool, though unsurprising development is the rise of PSG’s Kylian Mbappe. The young striker finds himself just outside the top 10 with an overall of 89. This puts the 20-year-old in rare company. Messi, this year’s top-rated star, carried an 86 rating at the same age. In fact, we haven’t seen a 20-year-old rate this highly since Wayne Rooney was a plucky striker at Man United.

If you’d like to dig in and see the ratings of the entire top 100, check FIFA’s site. FIFA 20 will be out for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 27.
