Fight Across 56 Multiplayer Maps in Armored Core: Verdict Day

March 11, 2013

New details have been released today (courtesy of 4gamer), for From Software’s upcoming Armored Core: Verdict Day.

Like the last title, Armored Core V, Verdict Day will have a consistent online Multiplayer mode called “World Mode” where players will be split into three forces that vye for dominance until one reigns supreme. When that happens, the season resets, and then it’s a new war.

World Mode is split into seven areas based on six continents (North American, South America, Europe, Africa, Australia, North Eastern Asia, and Southern Asia), each with eight locations within, making for a total of 56 stages to fight on. The final point of each struggle is the “Tower,” where teams will fight harder then ever to take control. These are the stages that determine who’s really winning the World Mode struggle.

As for the teams, players will be able to change which force they fight for at the beginning of each season, but once the war gets going, they’re deadlocked until the war is over.

The fight topography has changed (possibly, in my opinion, to appease older Armored Core fans that liked more freedom to manuever and strafe-battle), with the outer edges of bases being flatter and with fewer obstacles, and then the centers of bases having tons of places to hide around and use for cover. As you’ll see in the screenshots below, you can even see the Towers in the distance.

There also seems to be an infantry unit in multiplayer: a completely normal soldier armed only with an assault rifle and jetpack. There will also be a photography option for infantry units where players can take screenshots while on the battlefield. Players will be encouraged to upload shots, since they could be used for World News Updates.

But then again, if someone has enough time to take pictures, then clearly one of the teams isn’t fighting hard enough.

The game is set to release September this year in Japan to the PS3 and Xbox 360. When it will be coming to the West is unknown for now, but it probably won’t take long.
